Hi,
We don't have census records in NZ the nearest is electoral rolls and they don't start until a bit later and only have people of voting age, here is the index for them

http://search.ancestry.com.au/search/db.aspx?dbid=1836

What sort of information are you looking for?

Cheers Janette

This post caught my eye. Hi, not much help to you I know, but My Uncle used to work at Heatherlea Farm in Levin.  Probably broken up into smaller blocks now.  I popped Heatherlea farm Levin into Google, there appears to be a Farm shop or something in operation. Whether it's connected or not I don't know, but possibly might be a descendant that could give you some info or history.

Not to be confused with the American one on there

Road is called Heatherlea Road too!   Lots of lovely prooerty for sale too.

Levin Library may be a helpful source too!

Hi
Silly me I have just realised there are no census records. I just wanted location information to check where the family were farming. They farmed Heatherlea at some point but I don't know know other locations for them. I am not a member of ancestry so cannot access the electoral rolls.
Thank you

Hi NooshieW

I have some information I'm about ready to post for your EGGINTON family.

Whilst NZ electoral information can be helpful, it shouldn't be relied upon totally - it's better if used in conjunction with other records.

Since you last made enquiries here (2008 ?) for this family, many more records have become available - and some helpfully can be accessed (for free) online.   :)
Hopefully what I post, will assist also in answering some of the questions from your previous threads.

Only from 1922 (Manawatu electoral roll) are John West EGGINTON and his wife shown as living at "Heatherlea".

EGGINTON - John West - Foxton Road, Levin - farmer
EGGINTON - Emily Caroline - Heatherlea, Foxton Road, Levin - married.

Prior to this, their address shows only as "Levin".

Two newspaper articles give details of property in the name of John West EGGINTON.

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz

"Evening Post" (Wellington) - 20 April 1921 - page 8/ column 1
... Land Transfer Act notice ... application from John West EGGINTON, of Motueka, farmer ..

"Evening Post" - 20 February 1937 - page 16 / col. 1
.... Sale of Freehold property adjacent to Levin - in the Estate of late John West EGGINTON .

[Note:  The couple may have returned to live in Motueka briefly ... he's listed at Levin in 1919 - his wife is on the Motueka roll in the same year. ]

William EGGINTON

This man appears to have been the William EGGINTON who arrived in Nelson, NZ, with his parents, John and Ann, and siblings Stephen, Mary, and John, aboard the ship "Martha Ridgway" - 1842.
[Note:  Probably the same family found 1841 UK census at Kingswinford, Staffordshire ... although father's name is shown as "Thos." /  the other names and ages are a good match. ]

Whilst I can't see a New Zealand marriage, (this) William EGGINTON had a number of children to a previous "spouse" .. also named Mary Ann(e).  {Records of burials of infant children at Motueka cemetery. }
[Note:  Details of two sons (James and Henry) can be found in the Will of William EGGINTON  ... and a death certificate for son James, gives his mother's name as Mary Anne , nee HALL.      I'll give you details of how to locate this will shortly. ]
