Hi all,
I am trying to sort out this branch of my Finney family & am having one or two problems in accounting for children & making sure that I am aware of all of them! This is where the census lookups come in!
My 4x gt uncle Henry Finney (1815-1901) born in Stone Staffordshire married Sarah Cartwright (1821-1864 (also born in Stone)) at St Peter's church, Stoke in 1842.
They had 6 children that I know of:
Charles Finney (born Stone) (1843-1921) Married Charlotte Howe in 1865 (died 1878) & Jane Swann in 1880 (died 1903). Both marriages took place in the Northampton registration district.
Elizabeth Finney (born Stone) (1845-1935) Married Alfred Bull in 1865 (died 1906). Northampton registration district.
Henry Finney (born Stone) (1848-1904) Married Charlotte Bent in 1871. Northampton registration district.
Harriet Finney (born Stone) (1852-1936) Married Charles Franklin Thomas Parker in 1874 (died 1916). Leicester registration district.
Sarah Finney (born Stone) (1854-?) Married ? Possible marriages in Northampton in 1872 & Stone in 1880.
James Finney (born Northampton) (1861-1861) (Familysearch baptism shows this James to be son of Henry & Sarah)
Census lookups needed:
Henry Snr in 1861 in Northampton.
Charles in 1891 & 1901 in Northampton.
Elizabeth (as Bull) in 1891 & 1901 in Hackney/Shoreditch area of London according to familysearch.
Henry Jnr in 1871 & 1881 in Northampton. Also 1891 & 1901 in Leicester, according to familysearch. Wife Charlotte appears to be in Northampton in 1891 & seems to disappear after this.
Harriet (as Parker) in 1891 & 1901. They are in Leicester in 1881. RG11/3166/70/26, again from familysearch.
The family seem to have moved from Stone, Staffordshire to Northampton, Northamptonshire some time in the mid to late 1850's. A large number of them worked in the boot/shoe trade, various occupations.
Apologies for length of post/size of request but I really need to get this branch sorted out once & for all.
