Hi Heywood
It was the birth place of Halifax that threw me. I was looking for a birth in Heywood with the father Abraham a bricklayer

Yes I looked last night but it was too late to follow up. I have tried today to look more closely at Abraham and Ellen and I am not at sure about the one option I have seen.
This does look like Thomas but we will have to see what gnorman thinks.

Hi Everyone, thank you all so much for your hard work, I've struggled for over a year to get anywhere with this and i really think we're on to something here. To me the Logan information seems like a dead cert. As for Thomas Entwistle and his family, I'm uncertain without more digging but I am leaning towards the first suggestion with my gut instinct. I'll take all the information you've found for me and check it with everything else I have for Thomas and Ellen's children etc.

Thank you all and I'll let you know if I can confirm things either way,
Luke

Hi Luke,
Which one is your gut instinct? Do you mean the one who is the son of James and Maria?

It is difficult with such a common name.

The Thomas you have with James as stepfather, also had a father James. :-\

I personally like parents Abraham and Ellen for Thomas.  I suspect they married in 1850 at Bury and Ellen Odea/O`Dea nee Wilson was a widow.  Both were described as of Heywood.   My theory is that the earlier children were Ellens.  I think the birth certificate of Thomas born Halifax would be in order.

Just my thoughts.
