Hello,

I read an earlier post that a few members have access to information on burials and possible inscriptions of the Shankill Cemetery. May I kindly request a look-up for the above noted persons?

I have checked the Belfast City Council page. They don't appear there.

I have been researching the family for a friend. My friend, and great-great granddaughter to David and Jane Carson plans to travel to Ireland from Canada in late September and would like to visit the cemetery. The family lived at 18 Lecumpher Str. in the 1911 census.

Children of David and Jane CARSON;
Herbert, David (buried in England), Jemima, Agnes Cooke, Alexander, Annie.

Thank you,
J.

Researching: CARSON (Down), FENNELL (Wexford), HERON (Donegal), MCCULLOUGH (Monaghan)
CARSON-Antrim & Down, FENNELL-Wexford, HERON-Donegal, MCCULLOUGH-Monaghan, WHITE-Antrim, WILLIAMS-Anglesey

Hope someone can help you, in the meantime I'm posting the 1911 census link just as background for others:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Pottinger__part_of_/Lecumpher/221873/

Just to note a possible daughter Mary Carson, born 14 June 1912, mother's maiden name Cooke, the birth registered in Belfast.

Also, son Alexander Carson in the 1911 census died in 2009, see here (address still 18 Lecumpher Street):

This is an old thread on the Belfast Forum with information about the R. S. J. Clarke book:

For the record, there is also a Shankill Cemetery in Lurgan which can sometimes be confused with the Belfast one.

I suspect the dates you are looking for will be too recent to be included in the Shankill gravestones transcribed in the book I have- unfortunately it's one of the volumes now packed away to be sold shortly so I can't easily lay my hands on it to check for you.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
