1861 census lookup please

I am looking in Sheffield, Yorkshire, or Lincoln, Lincolnshire for an 1861 census entry for the following Family. They could possibly be living In accommodation attached to the Railway Station, as that is where I found them in 1851 census of Manchester!
At Altrincham, Deansgate!    After that he worked in Lincoln. Later, his employment record refers to a move to Sheffield Station from Lincoln. He worked for the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincoln Railway.

By the time of the 1861 census there should be 2 more children, Bessy Sarah, born 1853, and Robert William, born 1856!

The son Henry M, is my great grandfather, and he married in Sheffield in 1865.

By 1871, John Gibbons and Mary Jane Mathews, are in London, living with their son Henry M, now head of House, wife, parents and others living with him!

I haven't been able to find an 1861 census entry for them, to fill that gap!

I also have a possible death for John Gibbons Mathews in 1873, so 1871 may just be the last census entry for him!

Can anybody help please?  Much appreciated!

I'm trying Sheffield first, as that seems to be the obvious choice, but if this one doesn't come up trumps, I'll try Lincolnshire!  He might have gone to work in Sheffield on the train!  😃

Where were Robert and Bessy born?

Bessy was born 1853 in Manchester
Robert was born 1856 in London
Appt to Lincoln Station as Clerk in charge is dated 8 February 1856
Appt to Sheffield Station as Coal Traffic Superintendant is dated 1st March 1860, remark on sheet
"As From 1st December 1869.
Can check Roberts exact birth date if that's helpful?

No, don't have Robert's exact birthdate.  It was an estimate from the 1871 census entry.

An approximation is near enough - I was trying to locate the family using either Robert or Bessy as the names are a little less common than John and Mary.

I have had no luck as yet though. Maybe they are horribly mistranscribed as they all seem to be missing, so are likely to be together somewhere.

I've had another check on Robert, have his baptism attached to his father in my tree!  Duh. My bad. Must shift him!

So, Robert was baptised 9 May, 1856, - St. Peter's at Gowt, Lincoln!

Just love these English place names!

Yes, I've had my Mathews transcribed in many different ways, Mathews which is the right one from my oldest in the 1700's, Matthews, Maehues, Mathues, Matgews, (I guess that ones from a typewriter, I sometimes hit that g key in error myself,)and even Masters!  Then down to myself in 1945 Mathews.

I'm sure the transcribers do the very best they can, but sometimes, when you see some of the handwriting on those original census forms, I guess they just have to take their best guess!

FOUND THEM!!!  Indexed as MARTEN, but alive and kicking in Brightside!!

I can't claim the credit for them, that goes to a kind person from Sheffield Records Online!
