I have seen searching this family for years, found the following
1871  Living Duff St Poplar
Ann C Darby aged 59 mother born Shoreditch
Eliza Mitchell daur a 26 Limehouse
George W g/son 4 Poplar,
William R g/son 3 Poplar
Elizabeth g/daur2 mths Poplar,

then the following births
1872 James Thomas , ,
1874 Charles Henry found him on various census and marriage, no further info needed
1882 Ann Charlotte, no baptism for her found

1865
George William Mitchell full age of Brunswick St father William occ Waterman
married
Eliza Elizabeth  Darby full age of North St father William Rigger
witnesses Richard and Sarah Ann Senior

George William is nowhere to be seen on any census, on Ann Charlotte's marriage he is shown as "deceased" although nothing found on him

I cannot find mother or children on 1881/1891/1901
found marriages of
James Thomas
George William
Henry Charles, no further info needed on Charles
Ann Charlotte only found on marriage, emigrated to Australia

Found baptisms on all children except Ann Charlotte

This is the marriage I found for George William Mitchell:

23rd December 1865 at All Saints, Poplar
George William Mitchell, full age, Bachelor, Mariner, of Brunswick Street
Eliza Elizabeth Darby, full age, Spinster, North Street

Fathers: William Mitchell, Waterman  and  William Darby, Rigger


And, if Ann married in 1865, then she would be known as Ann Mitchell in 1871?

Which censuses do you have those children in and where were they living at the time of their marriages?

Did Ann Charlotte Mitchell marry George Pickers? If so, who is Arthur John Mitchell, witness?  George William, deceased, is an Engine Driver on that marriage.

1912 has a marriage for John Albert Mitchell, 25 yrs, with a father George  William, deceased, seaman.  Is this the same family?

1872: James Thomas MITCHELL b 1872, bp 1873 Father Labourer, 1 Elizabeth St
1874: Charles Henry MITCHELL b 4 1874, bp 1875, Father Labourer, 1 Elizabeth St
1882: Ann Charlotte MITCHELL, married in Poplar 1902 to George Henry PICKERS. Her address 8 Hale St

The only Census so far is 1871, with  the first 3 children.  (OP mentioned she cannot find mother or children on 1881/1891/1901 )

The daughter Ann Charlotte ended up in Australia too -and her death certificate names her father  as the same name as the  witness on her marriage 

There is a death in Qld 17.1.1961 for
Ann Charlotte Pickers
mother Elizabeth DARBY
father ARTHUR JOHN Mitchell.

Hi Folks
I have typed out a whole page of things and to my dismay I cannot find it, where has it gone?...

So
I have returned to my previous post, 2012 which I will admit to having completely forgotten about, I have printed off Annette's list to refer to from 2012

I am taking out a sub with SEAX quite soon, when I can sit and use as much up as I can, hopefully I will find the marriages of the boys in West Ham and the baptisms that couldn't be found in London registers

I cannot understand the mix up between father's, I am going to have to rethink the whole lot of this info
