Traced this family back through the census forms and all come from Devon

Baptism date 15 Feb 1818, Denomination: Independent               
Piece 0383: Newport, Commercial St., Hope Chapel 1815-1837               
William Henry Johns married Mary Morgan b. 1815, daughter of David Morgan b. 1775 Newport
William Henry's father was Matthew Johns born September 1784 in Bedminster, Near Bath. Matthew John's wife was Sibyl(Nee Burton).

Think I have found Joseph Johns b 1848 died 8/3/1923 Puyallup Pierce Washington
Father Wm Henry Johns ..
This Joseph is on the census forms 1880 in Washington says he immigrated 1868 occupation coal miner ..Married Lydia Howells 15/1/1880 census for 1910 he lists place of birth 1848 Newport Wales ...You can also find photo of grave stone on www.findagrave.com

Hi Rosie, you are 100% correct, with Joseph Johns.
I think to move forward, we need to have a definitive census record of the family, either 1851 or 1861.
From this point we can move forward and backwards.

Thank you Rosie. Does it show where William Johns was born. Some information I was given said Glamorgan and some other said Newport.

1851 census says he was born Glamorgan 1861 says Llanlithear Gloucestershire but it does not look like that to me    I know the year is wrong but there is a baptism 15/2/1818 Newport William Johns born 3/1/1818 father Mathew Johns mother Sibyl
