Bradys and Reillys in Kildallan
« on: Sunday 29 March 15 15:35 BST (UK) »
My GGgrandparents are John Brady and ? and Thomas and Eliza Reilly (I think in Bocade Glebe).
My Ggrandparents are John Augustine Brady and Ellen Reilly
My grandparents are John Andrew Brady b.1877 and Margaret (Maggie) Reilly b.1877.  John had a sister, Rosanne b. 1874
John and Maggie had 4 children - Mary Josephine b. 1905 d. 1918, Ellen b. 1907, Joseph b. 1910 d. 1943, and my father, Thomas Francis, b. 1913, d. 1990.  The 1911 census shows the 3 generations living in a house in Carn/Kildallan, county Cavan.
In 1927, John Andrew emigrated with Ellen, Joseph and Thomas to Montreal, Canada.
I am interested in any information anyone might have about these Bradys and Reillys and am particularly interested in tracing Ellen Brady after her arrival in Montreal, as I can't seem to find any trace of her.  Thank you.

Just adding some links-
Rose Ann Brady born 1874- https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FP9M-3B3
John Andrew Brady born 1877- https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGNB-B9B
note: Mullaghmore is NOT the father's birthplace (birth certificates do not list where father was born). It is the family's residence (listed under father's name) which usually indicates the child was not born at home.

Brady family in Kildallan townland (Carn is the D.E.D.)-

Hi nfmcc,
It's probably just a coincidence but, the names in your post intrigued me. My Great Grandma was  a Roseanne Allen born in 1874 in Cavan. Allen was her married name, before that she called herself Roseanne Reilly. I realise your  R would have been Brady but, my R was not very reverend about her name and often adapter it to suit her purpose. Maybe she could have decided to go under her Mothers name instead???

Sorry it IS probably just a coincidence but, it made me wonder, she is a bit of a mystery woman  :)

Hello Neli.  I'm afraid it is just a coincidence.  My Roseanne married a Eugene O'Reilly of the Irish Constabulary - lived for a while in Dublin and died there around 28 years of age and her husband and children then moved to Killeshandra.
