I'm getting really confused here - we seem to have George Turney being born all over the place!

From my earlier post from the 1861 census, Piece number   52   Folio number   78  Page number   25 : George   Turney   Son    7     Middlesex   with parents William and Ellen, to which Tabitha said " Ok, thanks groom. Yes that's probably the family"   Now it looks as if George was born in Wigginton, Hertfordshire with parents John and Margaret!

I don't think there is much point continuing until we have established exactly which George it is, and the only way to do that is to get his marriage certificate, otherwise we could be going on completely the wrong track.

This marriage from the GRO index

Marriages Dec 1893

Dellow    Henrietta         Stepney    1c   686
Turney    George         Stepney    1c   686

is NOT available online.

The page range for this district and quarter is 629-692, the earlier numbers refer to marriages in Anglican churches, the later ones took place at the register office or where a registrar attended at a place of worship such as a Catholic church.

You will need to buy this marriage cert from the General Register Office.

It may have been a register office wedding as Henrietta was previously married.

I'm getting pretty confused here  :-\

So who was George Turney's parents? Groom I only said  "Ok, thanks groom. Yes that's probably the family" because the ages seemed right and it all fitted...

Can you give me a link to the General Register Office. I'll have to get my mum to buy the marriage cert.

This is an idea - I know who George's wife and children were, so what if we find them in the 1901/1911 census then hopefully it will show where George was born...

Also, as George married in London and all his children were born there too, it seems likely that he may have been born in London?

I know his wife, Henrietta was born in Cornwall...but because George being from possibly London, all his children were born there too? Just a thought...but then again I really don't know who his parents were...

Exactly - and the only way to find his father is to get the marriage certificate.

GRO

1901 not with the familiy and the next census gives his place of birth as Wiggington, Hertfordshire.

Hi -
can anyone help me find George Turney? He was born around 1853-1857 in Hertfordshire. He married Henrietta James (previous married name Dellow) in 1893. I would like to find George in the 1861/1871 census if possible and find out who his parents were."

As you know, on Freebmd, there are 2x"George Turney" born in Herts(1853&1857),
5x in Beds, 2x in "London", 1 in Sculcoates.

The one [+family] I have given you is the 1857.

The relevant Turney/Dellow ref is
Marriage Dec 1893 Stepney 1c 686 Henrietta Dellow / George Turney

Regards

Ok, thank you all for your help.
It seems every time, it all comes down to buying a certificate.
