Baptism - EDDY
« on: Wednesday 08 April 15 15:37 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to trace the baptism of Jane Eddy born around 1806 in Mevagissey, Cornwall. All I know about her is that she married Daniel Edwin Staples James in 1822 in Maker, Cornwall. She became a widow and remarried in 1849 and on her marriage certificate states her father as Robert Eddy. She was living at the time in Stepney, London.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Jenney Edey bapt 15 May 1803 Mevagissey
Parents Robert?  & Mary Edey

No quite spot on but the only one that came up Mevagissey. There was one from Maker but had Samuel Eddey as father.

Hi vinpip,

Thank you very much for your quick reply! Even though it isn't spot on, names were often misspelled in those times and Jenney could very well be Jane!! I have seen a lot of these misspellings in the past. I will keep looking and hopefully also try and find the marriage of Robert and Mary. I appreciate very much your help and the interest you have shown. Again, thank you very much.

Regards.

You're very welcome :)

There are a number of possible marriages in Devon of a suitable time. I've not found any Cornwall as yet.

From the familysearch parish registers for Mevagissey it looks like a sister Mary ? was baptised the same day, does look a promising one though https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11631-1182-87?cc=1769414&wc=3CB4-MNT:138123201,140006601,140006602#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysearch.org%2Frecapi%2Fsord%2Fwaypoint%2F3CBQ-VZW%3A138123201%2C140006601%3Fcc%3D1769414
