Death of Susannah Tubbs Finsbury
« on: Monday 13 April 15 17:30 BST (UK) »
Hello

There is a marriage record for a John Tubbs and Susannah Eltum at Old St Lukes church, Finsbury, London in 1743.

I would appreciate if someone could help find a death record for Susannah and perhaps John. The marriage record reveals nothing other than their names and date of marriage.

thanks

Possible burial

John Tubbs, a Man, 28 September 1777, St Luke Finsbury

Nothing obvious in Finsbury for Susannah so could have died before or after him in another parish or remarried

I had a look at the marriage register for April 1743 and only his name is legible, the rest of the page has perished. What survives more completely is the banns book.

However, prior to 1754 and Lord Harwicke's marriage act, only the dates and names of the brides and grooms were usually entered in the registers anyway.

thanks dawnsh

Baptisms only go back to 1733, so it looks like John was baptised elsewhere

St Lukes was built to relieve the church of St Giles-without-Cripplegate, there are some Tubbs entries there.
