No the name GIBSON does not turn up - not yet anyway.

I am intrigued by your earlier post, as I don't think these are my relatives.

Charles and Eliza did not as far as I know have any child called Alfred. I have no baptism for Ellen, but do have one for Charles (Jan 1858 at St Barnabas in Islington). Where did you find this information? Do you have a reference?

In the 1881 census (RG11 257 20 34), Ellen Holden, aged 28, and her husband Alfred are living at 6 Scholefield Road, with their three children [Ellen 6, Alfred 4 and Charles 1]. She is a laundress and her birthplace is given as Crayford, Kent.

You listed this on your first message , This is the Holden siblings

Have I become confused?

No - its me. I thought you were referring to the children of Charles and Eliza, rather than Ellen and Alfred. It now makes sense.

I am also now making progress with Ellen post the death of Alfred.

Many thanks.

The Gibson links definitely seems promising, though I am having difficulty finding a marriage for the couple. They may well have not bothered with such formalities.

As for deaths, there is a possible death for Ellen Gibson, Q2 1922 Islington 1b 225.

I see that there is a Grandchild named Watson, which might mean that her daughter Ellen married someone named Watson. So I will have a look for a Holden-Watson marriage. Ada could, of course, have been on his side of the family.

Bingo - there is a marriage of Thomas James WATSON to Ellen HOLDEN (Q1 1895 Edmonton 3a 415). And they had a daughter named Ada!

Only problem Ada (born 1895) seems to be living with them in Edmonton in 1911, rather than with her Grandmother. Could there had been two Ada's? Or were people sometimes double-counted?

I have an instance in my own family where the son appears to be in 2 places on a census, might be 2 Ada's though

Some more background.

It would appear that Charles George Gibson's first wife was named Emma. There is a marriage Q1 1870 Pancras 1b 201.

They are living together in 1871, 1881 and 1891 in St Pancras.

Possible deaths: Charles Q2 1929 Islington 1b 224 and Emma Q3 1899 Pancras 1b 106.

But still can't find a second marriage for Charles and Ellen.
