Don't think that the widow in 1958 can be her as Edward Gatton didn't die until 1974, in Croydon so on balance would think that they didn't emigrate either.

I can only see mention of one Edward (S or Stanley) Gatton on freebmd so I assume he is the only one.

1951 Electoral register 9 Sinclair Road, Hammersmith has a Edward Stanley Gatton but no evidence of a Mrs Gatton.  Still there in 1962 without a wife

added:  the UK address quoted on the travel details for Beatrice is 72 Maypole Road, East Grinstead, Sussex. 

There is a child born in 1930 surname Gatton mmn Abbott in East Grinstead reg district - Beatrice could just have been pretending to be a widow  ;D

Looking at this thread from an outsider point of view,I would say that Beatrice had left her husband in 1958 visited then and settled in Canada for a new life .
Declaring her status as widowed would sever her ties completely.
