What type of document is this, and what does it say?
« on: Saturday 18 April 15 16:01 BST (UK) »
I received this with an inventory and bond, but I'm not quite sure what it is?  Can anyone decipher the gist of it?

Thanks!
Bridget

To summarise, it's a church court mandate, issued by Thomas Cradock, commissary of the Archdeaconry of Richmond, to all clergy in the archdeaconry, advising them that he intends to grant letters of administration for the personal estate of Jane Corney (deceased) of Borrett in the parish of Sedbergh. If the clergy know of any next of kin who might have a personal interest in the estate, or if anyone has information about any will that she may have left, such claimants should present themselves in Sedbergh Parish Church on Wednesday 17 June between 10.00am and 12 noon to put their case. In the absence of any claims, he will make a grant of administration to John Lancaster, or to anyone else willing and legally capable of undertaking the administration.
Signed and sealed 8 June 1685, by Richard Trotter(?), Notary Public.
Published 14 June 1685, by John Rose, Vicar of Sedburgh.
Fixed to the church doors the same day by John Fawcett and Thomas Bland, Churchwardens.
