Richard McGowan - From Hawick. WW1?
« on: Tuesday 28 April 15 07:29 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am currently doing my family tree, and trying to find out if my Great granddad Richard McGowan was in WW1.
I have found paperwork online when he signed up to the KOSB in 1895, but cannot find any record of him serving in WW1.
IF anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Jojo

There are army records for a Richard McGowan born 1877 Hawick, army number 5155 in the KOSB - looks like he was invalided out 21/10/00 (very faint writing).

Gives next of kin as father James - hard to read - 6 Kirk Wynd???, Hawick?
