Is the surname Lockie a form of Lockhart?

in Cumbrian newspapers the name was often spelled Lockie, so I would guess it would be the same on the Scottish side of the border?

David Lockhart, the botanist, came from Kirkandrews on Esk, in Cumberland: the Carlisle Patriot in 1839 mentioned his father John Lockie winning a prize at the Netherby Agricultural Society.
