Smyth
« on: Wednesday 06 May 15 12:03 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my great uncle Cornelius ( Conn) Smyth who was from Glentogher,Carndonagh, Co. Donegal and went to Dromahair. He married a Maggie Timony from there. I know he had 4 children. He was a baker according to family stories. Maggie Timony is on the 1911 census and she was 20 years old and living at home. Can't find them anywhere after that.

Welcome to RootsChat.

They married 14 Jan 1917

And Margaret in 1911

And 1901

I'm guessing you already have all this so it would help if you could tell us what you are hoping to find or we could just end up wasting time finding records you already have.

Many thanks for reply. No I didn't have marriage date.i know he had 4 children Brigid,Rosie,Herbert and Patricia. I think Rosie married an army man and they had a pub in Boyle .
I also know that Conn died in Manorhamilton Hosp and is buried in the Abbey.we got all this trying to find this branch of family before. I would just like to know if any descendants around or any knowledge of them. We could never find out.

As the children would have been born after 1917 you are moving into the area of possibly living people which isn't allowed on RootsChat, it's quite difficult to search for more recent records due to data protection but someone from the area may find your post and be able to help.

I think their births are on FamilySearch with the spelling as Smith but I don't see a Likely marriage for Herbert and finding a marriage for the girls isn't likely without husbands names.

RIP.ie let's you search using maiden names but I haven't found one linking to Leitrim so far.
