William Halbert Jr was born about 1766 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. We havent found his baptism yet.
He was a son of William Halbert 1742-1803 and Alison (Alice) Potts 1743-1814 who married in Roxburgh, Scotland.
William Jr died about 27 Jun 1815 in Black Boy Chare, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England
William like his father was a tailor.
William married Sarah. The problem is we dont know when or where or her surname. I have a separate thread for some of his descendants but have created this thread in the hope that
fresh eyes might find the linkages I need for this marriage.
One possibility is that William Halbert married Sarah Kemp in Saint Botolph Without Aldersgate, London, London, England on 31 May 1791 but there are problems with this being their marriage.
I have the official register of the marriage of William Halbert to Sarah Kemp plus the marriage certificate. It says William was "of this parish". It also says he was a gentleman.
This is the best fit for a marriage but the details dont add up. The church itself wasnt the normal Presbyterian church that Williams siblings and parents went to. Why was William in London marrying someone? Was he there on business or trying to set up a business? Was it a shotgun wedding? Williams own children were baptised in multiple different churches in Newcastle upon Tyne/Gateshead but all followed the family religion.
