I believe George & Isabella's son, George, (born 1827) moved to Dundee?  Not sure if you already have this info from family search:

1848 George McIntosh married Charlotte McDonald 21 July, Dundee, Angus
Their children:
John b. 7 May 1856 Dundee
William b. 7 Apr 1858 Dundee
David b. 28 Aug 1862 Dundee
Elizabeth b. 2 Jan 1865 Dundee

disregard this Maggie, it's a red herring.  I should absolutely know better than repeat info gleaned from the iternet without checking first!

Came across this website which has George McIntosh snr., born 1799 and dying in 1878.  The only death matching this on SP is in Moray, so not a good fit at all, particularly as he disappears from the census returns well before that.

It is interesting, however, because it shows Helen Christie’s two brothers, Henry & George McIntosh to be established in Victoria by the time she emigrated, although Henry had previously died in a boating accident in 1859.  PRO Vic has a record for him; Salesman of Richmond, 29 Oct 1859 but it has not been digitised.

CORRECTION:  I do apologise for all the misleading mistakes I'm making today.  George did NOT go to Australia.  He married Christian Leydon Deans &  became a Supreme Court Solicitor, dying in Edinburgh 1903.

So that was the right Henry then in Australia did see the article in the paper and wondered ..So where is George the father after the 1851 census ...Might be worth while getting the full transcription for Isabella in the 1861 census from Scotlands People to see if she is listed as a widow

Yes, I agree with obtaining the original 1861, Rosie.  Alternatively, the 1857 marriage cert for Jane McIntosh & Alexander McIntosh should record George snr as being alive or not.

Think this George McIntosh birth year of 1795 is in Spynie Moray a retired boat builder

That's a blow!  Have just amended post #19.  My error.  George & Isabella's son George didn't go to Dundee or Australia but settled in Edinburgh.  Death certificate attached to above post.

But the attached marriage cert records him as deceased by 1859
