Oh 'tis them for sure.

Did you mention that he passed away shortly after marrying ?

Tara

Yes John died in 1929 - I like to think it's a tale of romance but one can never be sure! It's so interesting I think and it confused me for such a long time glad I finally have some what of an answer but like I said a ton more questions.

I thought it might have been a death-bed marriage, but three years is a bit long for that  ;D

I wonder was going to be a lay-man and had to have his paperwork in order ?

I'd contact St. Mary of the Angels and see can they help ~ see is a marriage in that church, with two brothers as witness' as rare as it sounds !

Could the father's name be Harry with one 'r'? I have a few Harry's spelt that way on census returns and certificates.

Fantastic find. I wonder were they asked to prove their marriage for something and then marry to have a certificate?

Goes to show you have to look everywhere;). Thanks for the update.

That's great that worked out to be the correct record. I have a very similar scenario in my tree with a great aunt who only married the father of her children when they were both in their mid 50's.
Dathai is spot on that it was the Capuchin church on Church St that they married in.  The Capuchin brothers were amazingly socially and politically active at the time (and still are with Br. Kevin in the Day Center who does amazing work) and their archive has a brilliant Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/CapuchinArchivesIreland
maybe you could run any questions by them there.
