Lewis Strickland Tatham, Passenger lookup
« on: Sunday 24 May 15 14:27 BST (UK) »
Hello would anyone be able to look up Lewis Strickland Tatham (think it's transcribed as Wis Strickland Tatham)
He is on the New South Wales unassisted passenger lists 1826-1922, though i'm guessing it would be after 1881 as he was still in Britain then. He could possibly be traveling with a Rosehanna or Mary Helena. He was born in Yorkshire in 1854.

Thanks

Transcribed here as Edwin Strickland FATHAM, but if you click on 'scan' the 'Edwin' is more likely the end of the name 'Lewis'.

While in port he tried to desert and was locked up on November 27 then returned to his ship on 15 December in time for departure. (Gaol entrance books)

Mentioned in this article:

This is probably why - paragraph starting 'The iron clipper ship Marmion....'

Thank you, how interesting, looking at his tree it appears that he could of been a handful!

Hello,
So i asked for help on the UK pages thinking this chap must of still been in the UK, but either this is a huge coincidence or he came back.
Lewis Strickland Tatham married Mary Helena Allsop in Nottingham 1881

There's an 1888 divorce record in the Cape Town Archives- indexed as Fatham
"DEPOT:     KAB       SOURCE:    CSC          VOLUME NO: 2/1/1/252    REFERENCE: 20
DESCRIPTION:          ILLIQUID CASE. LEWIS STRICKLAND FATHAM VERSUS MARY HELENA ANNIE       FATHAM, FORMERLY ALLSOP, BORN THORNTON. ACTION FOR THE DISSOLUTION OF THE BONDS OF MARRIAGE. "

Could any one look & see if there were children involved or if Lewis stayed?
Thank you

Jackie
