Samuel Feeney and William Feeney. Dates of Birth ?
« on: Saturday 30 May 15 16:02 BST (UK) »
Samuel Feeney married Mary Griffiths in 1859 in Shrewsbury. His father is shown on the marriage certificate as a William Feeney ( labourer ).As was the pattern Samuel's age is given as " full age". I believe that he may have been born in about 1832/33 which would have made him 26/27, but am not sure. William may have been born in about 1791 and married ( possibly to an Ann Evans ) in about 1824 , but am not sure of that either. Does anybody have any more concrete information?

How certain are you that his mother was Ann? Could this be the family in 1851, perhaps a second marriage? That is the only Samuel Feeney I can see born Shrewsbury about that time.

I can't see a death for Hannah/Ann in Shropshire though between 1841 and 1851.

Yes groom, I wondered if that was her.
There is a Patrick Fenney death in 1843 though - maybe a child?

Ignore re Patrick - there is a Fenney family around so probably no connection.

To groom and heywood, many thanks for your information and apologies for the delay in replying. I think heywood may have found the family in the 1841 census as the ages tally with what I suspect i.e William was 50 and therefore born in 1791 and Samuel is shown as 8 and was therefore born in 1833.As Samuel married Mary Griffiths at St. Chads, Shrewsbury in 1859 I thought that the William shown as marrying Ann Lloyd ( not Evans as I mistakenly stated ) at St. Chads in 1824 might have been his father. Samuel worked as a bricklayer/bricksetter and spent all of his married life in Shrewsbury and his children appear to have been baptised at St. Chads. Also as one of Samuel's children was called Ann/Annie he may have named her after his mother if indeed she was the former Ann Lloyd.
