Trying to get any info about a James West b 1832 Essex England. I do not have any info regarding parents. Any help would be appreciated if at all possible.

Hi Louisa,
I do not have any census info as I am not sure just where he was born and I am  trying to find out his place of birth.
I was told that he may have been born in Essex?
All I have is a James West married Eliza Margaret McBride in 1861
Some have his name as James Martin West or James West. I may have to look at finding the marriage certificate to get some more info.

Thanks for your reply. I have been able to find out that the marriage of James West & Eliza Margaret McBride,  the registered number is 2863. I can assume that is here in Victoria.
To many with the same names does not make it very easy.

Essex is a big area!

Does his marriage give any info about his fathers name or occupation?
Do you know when he emigrated?
What evidence do you have that he was born in Essex? (Sorry, I don't count "I was told..." as evidence, unless the person that told you can back it up from a reliable source)

The marriage certificate says that he was born in Essex England and it has the fathers name as James West and the occupation it looks like Sailor!
I do not know when he emigrated and I may have to find that?
