Help with an assignment please and thanks

Hi,

I am a distance learner with Aberystwyth University. 

I am currently doing the module Information Retrieval

The assignment is 'compare and contrast information retrieval systems'

The group I have chose for this is Genealogy researchers.

I have to select two different Information Retrieval Systems  suitable for the user group.

Make sure:

the systems are different enough so that you have material to discuss and compare

You may draw from the following broad categories:

Internet search engine (do not select Google)

Metasearch engine

Internet directory

Subject gateway or portal

Library OPAC (e.g Voygaer)

A specific on-line database

A social tagging based IR system

I have chose Ancestry as the specific online database but am wondering what I else I can use.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this.

Are you willing to rely on Ancestry for accuracy in all counts?

No I dont wholly rely on Ancestry for accuracy.

I use FindMyPast and other sites for my family history research.

I chose that one because that is the one I have the most usage with and just wondered what else I could compare and evaluate with it .

Comparing ancestry's inaccuracies with another source is part of the exercise I would have thought.

Does rootschat not fit your needs as a second source

So Rootschat would come under the Internet directory

Ancestry is the online database but surely I have to choose something from another group? 

Familysearh is anohter online database is it not?

Familysearch is an online database, would rootschat come under subject gateway? It is certainly different enough,  maybe a free source compared to a paid for one is a useful comparison
