Hello Valerie,

I believe I am right in saying that Ludgershall is the only parish in the whole of Wiltshire who have not deposited their parish records at the WSHC.  Having said that, they have a new Rector who might change that situation.  Talking to one of the Archivists recently at WSHC, he was telling me that every so often they send a note to all parishes asking for any completed registers to be deposited for safe-keeping.

If you drop an email to the WSHC (local studies) because they may have transcribed copies of the registers and might check for you if no-one else is able to help.  I always find WSHC very helpful.

Thank you LC, not what I wanted to hear, but extremely helpful nonetheless.  I'll keep my fingers crossed and try WSHC.

Valerie, you can go to St James Church in Ludgershall and look at the registers if you make prior arrangements - and if you are in a position to do so!

Sadly 600 miles away, but if there are any Ludgershall locals out there who would like to volunteer I would be exceedingly grateful

Valerie, when you write to WSHC, do tell them you live 600 miles away and can't get there in person to look at the records.
