Hi,

There are two different Francis O'Dowd's in the 1893/96 Electoral Roll, both in different areas.

Source   1893/1896 Electoral Roll
Electorate   City of Auckland
Record Number   10022
Surname   O'DOWD
Given Names   Francis
Place of Residence   Symonds St
Occupation    Hotelkeeper  ......... Wife was Fanny

According to an online Tree, this Francis did live in Thames, 1875/76 but moved to Auckland 1880.

Source   1893/1896 Electoral Roll
Electorate   Thames
Record Number   2374

I would say this your chap, and he remained in Thames.

Just a coincidence, the on line tree for the other Francis O'Dowd also had a son called Francis Patrick O'Dowd.

Incidentally, in his WW1 file, George Neville CARLSEN, names his wife as Rose (rather than Rosana) ... when giving his marriage details as well as his next-of-kin.
