Master/Thirkill Marriage - Brown Ash, Norfolk?
« on: Thursday 18 June 15 14:57 BST (UK) »
I have a marriage on Ancestry which was performed at Brown Ash, Norfolk !!! I Googled Brown Ash and it comes up with a few postings from people not being able to find the place. Suggestions on Google that it is Bracon Ash. I went onto Free BMD for Dec Qtr. 1840 when the marriage took place and sure enough the marriage is in that quarter and Bracon Ash, Henstead is a possible place for the marriage. What happened. Ancestry did not invent the name. How did the original parish records acquire the name Brown Ash?

Hi

I don't think that the original PR's obtained the name Brown Ash, but looking at the BT's for 1840 you can see how Ancestry could have mis-transcribed Bracon Ash!

Thank you very much Yokel. I like to be as accurate as possible before entering anything into my tree.
