Ha ha you are a glutton for punishment :-) I haven't really gotten anywhere to be honest. I followed up on Dathai's Michael Cardiff lead and I think he is right with the parents. Didn't go any further with Syl. I am waiting to hear back from Kew about a record Dathai found on an accident Syl had in Inchicore. I might have found some promising marriages etc for siblings. I'll check my notes and come back to you.

Right, based on baptisms around the time in Fox&Geese in Clondalkin I am tentatively assuming that Michael Cardiff and Bridget Magennis/McGuinness are my Mary's parents.

Crucially I cannot find Mary's baptism nor can I find a marriage for Michael and Bridget above.

Some possible marriages for Mary's siblings;

And Michael in 1901:

This is all I have so far. It seems the Cardiffs were in Clondalkin a long time. Michael in 1901 was listed as a railway engine driver. In 1908 and in 1911 my Syl Doyle was a railway labourer as were many of the next generation. I think I am on the right track (no pun intended) with these guys.

That's really interesting Dathai, thanks. Syl's son Richard was a boiler maker so maybe he worked in the Inchicore Works too. My nan and grandad lived near there when I was growing up (nan still does) so I am familiar with all those streets. It's nice to be able to picture it all.

Great photos, no Doyles that I can see. I noticed one or two of the photos are of wood machinists in the carriage shop in Inchicore. I have other relatives in the area with that occupation, I wonder if they worked for the railway too. They must have been a huge employer in the area.
