What date do you think the photo is?  Looking at the list of town tramways on good old wiki, several closed in the 1930s.  If we could push the date of the photo to later than that, then that would eliminate several options.

I think that it is before 1914,  due to seeing no motor vehicles. other than motorbikes.

The James/Castle/Lord street junction was much more complicated (1908 map) than seen in the photo.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

I think it's South Castle St.

Albion House showing above buildings on left

Thank you for finding the map.

I believe that the photo  is taken from that curved section  marked St Georges place.  showing part of Castle street Liverpool.

As I remember it from ten years ago, the Co-OP  bank  used to be on the corner of  castle and Brunswick streets  (where the shop with the blinds down  and Horse and cart outside)

I was reading it as "arada" or "araba" but I can't find anything that makes sense!!
