How about this- Eliza Champion. 50 Denzille St., buried 4 Sept.1849 (same address on Mary Amanda's 1848 baptism). Eliza age 45 so born c1804- could she be Ralph's wife or sister???

That's actually a confirmation record- OP mentioned it earlier.

And this one!
Frederick Morris Champion married 1831- witness A. Bass Sergeant (1st witness may also be Bass rather than Boss- unfortunately original record not on site yet)

William R. Champion, 50 Denzille St.- confirmation record
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/5e75660116479

Searching with just '50 Denzille' brings up Waller family who seem to be at that address 1860-1866... and a baptism in 1861 for a Mary Grogan.

Confirmed ~ aged 20  ???

Might it have been a change of religion prior to marriage ?

His Will index says Ralph William Champion SWEENEY.

That 1850 death for an Eliza Champion that Aghadowey posted has to be the key !

Ralph is mention at the 49 / 50 Denzille Street address.

It appears that he owned a funeral home there that was then taken over by Wallers !

So, was Eliza a wife, possibly a Miss Robinson ie sister of Frances Robinson.

Were her and Ralph childless and took in Amanda ?

Unfortunately Eliza died shortly after ?

Hum 'tis all a possibility ~ now to find proof !

This explains the Waller connection-
Freeman's Journal, 10 May 1866: Funeral Requisites of Every Description. WALLER (Champion's Successor), 49 and 50 Denzille-street, Merrion-square.

and this might explain the Sweeney connection-
"My great great grandfather John Paget Sweny of Dublin 1810-1883 was a proprietor of coaches & undertaker. The family were C of I (Anglican).  John and his wife Matilda Yeates had 14 children:
... Ralph William Champion 1856-1923,  ..."
