Hi Georgia,
That is frustrating for you.
Make sure you are entering the dates in the correct format.
For example today would be 11/07/2015 (where I am anyway!)

Other than that, use the boxes as shown.

Not a huge amount of information is given on the New Zealand indexes ::)

It helps to start by putting  basic information in and then narrow things down by adding more if you need to for example just put in a surname and see what come up
