Richard Mansell marriages
« on: Sunday 12 July 15 15:39 BST (UK) »
I have a Richard Mansell at the start of my tree and I know nothing of his parents or his birth year I don't even know when he died.

What I do know is he married Mary Long 31/5/1798 at Bishops Cleeve.I don't know when Mary died.(I don't know of any children)

Richard was a widower and remarried 8/2/1808 at Bishops Cleeve to Ann Long they could have been sisters I have no parents or ages for either of them.

Richard and Ann had two sons Thomas(c1809)Winchcombe and William(c1812)Sevenhampton.(both Bapt. in Winchcombe)

Richard and Ann must have died before 1841 I can not find them in a census.

I wonder if anyone can see anything about them.

Hi, there seem to be a couple of other children born to Richard/Ann Mansell apart from the two you mention:

Elizabeth  30/4/1815
George   18/5/1819   both baptised Winchcombe, Gloucestershire.

Family search shows a Richard Mansell born 1776 living in winchcombe in the 1841 census, also a birth for Richard Mansell in toddling ton, about 4 miles from winchcombe in 1773.

Any use?

Mike

Hi Pheno.

I hadn't tried searching for anyone else because I had worked back from my granddad through the censuses and found Thomas Richard and Ann's son was my g,g,g granddad. Then a couple of years ago I spent a week at Gloucester Records Office and managed to find Thomas and William's Baptisms along with their parents. Then today I decided to try and  find out more about them.

Hi Mazi

It looks like I have started on a big trail. It could be Richard in 1841 Thomas was married and William was living with the Brown family.

I see there is a Richard Mansell death on bmd 1849 registered Winchcombe.

So if that is him I could see if there is a burial maybe at Toddington and what age this Richard was.

If that is my Richard in 1841 that could be the George Bapt. in 1819 and then it looks like they had two more children at least Charles and Ann.Their mother could have died over 0-15 years before.

Me again,
I haven't checked all the posts above, but from my own resources I can add the following:-
1841 Census for Sudeley Manor & Winchcombe
MANSELL, Richard, 65, Ag Lab
MANSELL, George, 20
MANSELL, Charles, 14
MANSELL, Ann, 15
Remember that the ages recorded are generally 5 years +/-.
Ann MANSELL was buried at St Peter, Winchcombe, 6th January 1837, aged 87.
