The best technique is to search for the name of a known resident or a near neighbour, rather than an address!

Wow - thank you; you are an excellent search engine. Of course (but only in in hindsight) the 1956 records, where it appears "my people" moved out, means that the later ones matter less (although they could have moved back, I suppose).

When Muriel Gale left Harrow for New Zealand, Frank and Anne Ward moved to Long Melford in Suffolk. They had a small cottage near the church. Frank Ward was my mother's brother. Uncle Frank sufferred a stroke, but outlived Anne.   RT

In that case, Ancestry's Death Index has a very plausible entry, registered Sep 1980 in Sudbury.

Edit; looks like Frank died soon after, registered Mar 1981, Sudbury.
