Marriage for Adrian Neville Farries

Hello all.
I am trying to find the 2 marriages of my man, Adrian Neville Farries.
Here's the timeline:
Adrian was b. Feb 5, 1894 in Eng.
Came to Canada in 1907 to Toronto
Enlisted in 1915 - lists his mother as next of kin and is not married.
Is on the 1921 census, living in Toronto with wife, Marguerite
Died in Victoria, BC in 1987, age 94 - listed as married - wife is Harriet Jane Thomas

Marguerite was b. 1887 in London, Eng.
Came to Canada in 1920
Married, according to 1921 Census, to Adrian Farries

Harriet Jane Thomas was b. in Ireland, 1906
Came to Canada in 1932
was a nurse
died in Victoria, BC, 1980, married to Adrian Neville Farries

So ... my thought is that Marguerite died or they divorced and Adrian and Harriet married sometime between 1932 and 1980 !

I have looked in Ontario and BC records for marriage, divorce and death (of Marguerite) but no luck.

Kind of an odd one but I see Marguerite on Passenger's lists quite often and I think she may have died in England :

Also,I THINK she may have been Marguerite nee EVERINGHAM. If you can,take a look at the NY Passenger list for her:

If he served overseas during WWI and she didn't immigrate until 1920, have you looked  in England for a marriage to Marguerite?

In 1919, Adrian crossed into the US enroute to Fort Worth, Texas to visit his sister, Violet Blackhouse. At that time, he was single and he named his mother, Olive, in Winnipeg, as his next of kin. Perhaps he married in Texas.

I found Marguerite crossing into the US at Buffalo from Canada in October 1931, accompanied by her husband, Adrian.  Says she was born in Penfield, England; aged 38. Next of kin in Canada is sister-in-law, Violet Veckers (Vickers?) in Winnipeg. Indicates that she first arrived in the US on March 11, 1920 aboard the Adriatic into New York City.  They were just passing through the US to sail to England the following day.

Another entry in 1946 shows they are still married at this point and living in Kitchener, as they were in 1931 as well. Again bound for England, but this time, she says she first arrived into Montreal in 1920, on an unknown ship.

1920 US Census in Fort Worth shows Violet and her husband, Harry Backhaus, and their son Brian.  Also living with them are Olivia, Adrian and Harcourt Farries, so I'm pretty sure the marriage took place in Fort Worth.

Marriage in New York for Adrian.

Sept 1934 passenger list for Marguerite returning to Kitchener and husband Adrian after trip to England.  Voters lists for Waterloo (Kitchener-Waterloo amalgamation) shows Adrian and wife in 1940 but by 1949 Adrian is listed by himself.  Deaths for that time period in Ontario are not publically available.

It really looks to me as though Marguerite has just gone home to England and stayed there.

Thank you, everyone!  So, taking it all in, it looks like either a death or divorce between 1940-1949 then a re marriage to Harriet sometime after 1949. No way to find out, really, then is there?

oh I am itching to know this story!  Just rec'd their wedding cert - they were married in March 15 1920, in Manhattan NY.  She came from England, and has put down her address as the Waldor Astoria (very posh!).  Adrian, put his residence as Fort Worth Texas.  Seems a long way to go, to get married - from Texas to New York.  Perhaps they met overseas, maybe she was a nurse? Marguerite (Margaret on the marriage cert.) is also 8 years older than Adrian!
