Well Indexed though!     http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633665#page/4/mode/1up

Certain plenty seem "sparce" on details!

Does seem a bit more than average- note that #2030 is a foundling. If I'm reading the page correctly all the children have 1 female sponsor.

I wonder if there would be any clues in the 1901 census?

Thank You Aghadowey for looking.

It's upsetting and unnerving to see such a high number on each and every page.

I wouldn't have thought that ONE institution could account for these high numbers.

Was it possible that it was done to keep the numbers down in other churches ?

I just can't imagine this vast number of women going to that church day in, day out to have these children baptised.

Was it possible that the names were 'sent' to the clerk or the priest to be written up ?

Why no address', surely that was needed by this time ?

UGH maybe I'm reading too much into it but it's not sitting well with me.

Tara

PS

I'm also looking at a lot where the surname wasn't written down ~ would these even show up on rootsireland ?

I ask because if people were using rootsireland as a search engine, then a lot of baptisms would be missed.

Certainly around there, even today, there are many buildings in which 8 or maybe 10 families lived at Census years!

Hi Hallmark

No, that will just bring you to the same pages when you go into the years.
