Hi Tara. I have a Catherine Maher on the 1851 but am unable to link because there is no mention of her father.

I have checked the 1861 for the Rileys and the Mahers but cannot link any of them.

I also tried getting into Henry Street, Heaton Norris, on the 1861 but things seem to have changed again on FindMyPast and so I have given up on that (for now anyway).

Many thanks for the link to Kingsland, Herefordshire, but I know she definitely came from Ireland.

1881 census seems to specify a Kingsland in Herefordshire.

Hello,

Another site just show Kingsland which looks right. If that is the only census which shows Kingsland, it might be just an error.

In 1871 233/6/6 and in 1881 there is a lodger Morris Griffin (different spellings) who shows Ireland in 1871 and Kingsland in 1881. The other lodger in 1881 also shows Kingsland.

I wonder about the lodgers in 1871 - John Mears, 67 yrs b Ireland and Margaret 18 yrs b St Pancras. Could Mears and Mahon be mis- transcriptions. That's just a thought!

I see from a published tree that Catherine died 1915 - do you have her in 1911?

Heywood.

Hi Heywood. If you are referring to the published tree on Ancestry, I am in contact with the tree owner. He doesn't know any more than I do unfortunately

I am missing the 1891 and the 1911 census records for Catherine, having tried various alternatives. She definitely died in 1915 as I have the death certificate.

Your comment re the lodgers on the 1881 is food for thought. I will definitely look into that.

Many thanks.

Was the death informant a relative?

Unfortunately not, the coroner for London. I have checked the newspapers for an inquest report but no luck.

Sorry, to ask - does it say she is the widow of George? Just wondering how you know it is her if there are no real details.

Hello Heywood, it is definitely her.

Widow of George William Parker, plasterer, which is what appears on his death certificate. His death was registered by their son.

The address fits in as well as it pops up quite a lot in my family. Unfortunately she wasn't there in 1911!!!

Another mystery is that she was married in the parish church (Anglican), as were the children. What I cannot find is a single baptism (eight children) although they stayed within the area covered by the LMA records.

I've just been searching 1891 with addresses, names etc. No joy!

I know the feeling!!!

Perhaps they all decamped to Ireland. Think I am going to need the luck of the Irish to get anywhere with them.

Bye
