Marriage look up please- Doddington Parish Church 1908
« on: Wednesday 22 July 15 10:58 BST (UK) »
Marriage announcement in The Berwick Advertiser tells me that

Thomas WALLACE and Ellen SHIEL were married at Doddington Parish Church on 8th August 1908.

If anyone can look this up in the Parish Records sometime, I'd be grateful for the details from the marriage register. As per, I am after the good stuff like occupations, witnesses etc and confirmation of the date so I can add this to the list for my next batch from Woodhorn:-)

Thanks

Boo

he he, it can wait just as long as you want/need Christine.
Its waited 100+ years already another week/month/year isn't going to make any difference and I am really grateful that you do so much to help:-)

The Berwick Advertiser is turning out to be a gold mine for me, I am finding lots of snippets in there - again with some much appreciated help (take a bow, Belfordian!) as sometimes the OCR means that searches don't always bring up the right results.

Here’s your Doddington marriage.

Thomas Wallace, 26, bachelor, Joiner of Waren Mill parish of Bamburgh
   Father Ralph Wallace (deceased), Mason
Ellen Shiel, 25, Spinster of Fenton Hill parish of Doddington
   Father William Shiel, Groom

Witnesses – John Mavin, George Shiel, Mary Shiel

I don’t know whether there is any significance to this but on many of the records the vicar had added ‘by banns’ after ‘According to the rites etc.’.  He did not do it on this record.

Thank you once again Christine, really appreciated.

All checks out with what I know, John Mavin was Thomas' cousin. I know about Ralph's death and Ellen Shiel was the first choice option for a bride :-)

All just tickettyboo!

Thanks again, I'll add this one to my next batch of copies from Woodhorn. Your kindness and willingness to help saves me a LOT of money as I now have an exact date and ref to be able to order the copy of the entry.

I am very grateful, as ever, for the help

Boo
