Thanks

Where is Sarah's baptism? Was Sebastian baptised in 1730?

If you link to Mark Trewartha and Sarah Kella you may enjoy fellow Rootschatter Wendy Beasley's website: http://wendybeasley.tribalpages.com/

familysearch has images of the original parish registers which can be downloaded free.

I am working on my Trewartha line including Sebastian and Sarah, but as there are several baptisms (and possible marriages) for Trewarthas and their spouses within reasonable time frames it is slow going to discount red herrings and be satisfied that I am left with a definitely correct identification.  Whatever the final result there is more than enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that the Trewarthas were Cornish miners in and around Gwennap dating back to the earliest parish registers.

All the best
Philip

St Just in Roseland not close to Gwennap.

thank you

Was looking at trees online for Sebastian and Sarah

Several trees have Sebastian Trewartha dying in 1844 aged 122 at Carn Marth, Cornwall, an impossibility considering the oldest person in existence was around the same age

Also have Sarah dying in 1823, despite the fact I cannot find a corresponding burial

The images of the Gwennap registers on familysearch show:

Sebastian Trewartha buried 27 August 1806 (I can't be sure this is him, but I haven't found another Sebastian who fits)
Sarah Trewartha buried 4 May 1823 Gwennap, aged 89.

Mark Trewartha was my 2nd cousin 8 times removed :D at least according to the major Trewartha family tree which goes back to my proposed 12th great grandfather in the 1500s. I declined to research the Trewartha line personally to verify this, although another cousin agrees with the line with the exception of the aforesaid 12th g-grandfather.

When I first saw "Trewartha" I thought "Finally, an unusual surname to research!" Turns out I was wrong about that...  ::)
