« on: Sunday 02 August 15 05:57 BST (UK) »
The Family Search (IGI) records a marriage of a John Campbell and Esther Johnson 25th October 1875 at Walton on Hill, Lancashire.  Groom's father: Duncan Campbell, Bride's father: William Johnson.
Can anyone give more details of the couple, age, occupation, mothers names etc.
Kind regards

Hi

One of the Family Search records for that marriage state the pair to both be widowed.

Can't find anything else, but there is this Welsh Census 1881:
RG11 /Piece 5357 / Folio 68 / Pg45
4 Fleet Street, Swansea
Head: John CAMPBELL 54, Engineer Marine, b Argyle, Scotland
Wife: Esther CAMPBELL 50, Liverpool, Lancashire

Are you trying to determine if this groom John was your ancestor:

John CAMPBELL
Born in Longleys Perthshire, Scotland in 1826
Parents: Duncan CAMPBELL and Elizabeth BAXTER.
Married: Mary Ann Louisa USHER  in March 1864 at Edge Hill, Lancashire.
Census 1871 UK Census,  St.Thomas in Liverpool.
Occupation: Master Mariner (certificated). His Masters cert was first issued 1854, then re-issued in 1868 (original lost at sea when his ship went down in 1868).

Your John wasn't a widower in 1875, but stranger things  have happened than a marriage breaking down and fib being told on another marriage certificate  ;D.    I think maybe the only way you're going to know is to order that marriage cert. with provisos and if it's promising, purchasing it & comparing signature to his first marriage, for example?

Cheers
