Yeah, could be son of John and brother of Eve, and I have an S.A.M brooch shaped liked a sailor, maybe we can go back via him? as his father is the John Hattingh Im looking for.

Another point: do you know which church, or what sort of church (e.g. Dutch Reformed) the family would have attended? Familysearch have some parish records (images) and perhaps a marriage or baptisms could be found.

maybe Dutch Reformed as parents got married on 25/9/1953 in Smith Street Dutch Reformed church. have their marriage certificate.

Sorry Jorose, maybe we can go via Pieter Hattingh background and find if he has/had a brother Stephen and sister Eve and another sister ?Mabel. All deceased now.

Found grandfather medal. it is the King George medal 1914-1918 and at the bottom is engraved Pte. J Hattingh 3rd s.a.i. Can this be traced?
