Just to tidy up some loose ends. Mention is made of Sowport. This is Solport and is one of four ancient Townships in the parish of Stapleton. Solport is now also a civil parish.

Shankhill is in the ecclesiastical parish of Stapleton but is also in the civil parish of Solport.

thanks clearly,

I know William married in Gateshead in 1898 to either Janet Spence or Annie McKenna, I cannot seem to find him in the 1901 or 1911 census. Any help would be appreciated
