Edward Parker, Lilian Rockley, Robert Hillier
« on: Sunday 23 August 15 15:54 BST (UK) »
I know this is clutching at straws but I am hoping someone, somewhere, has information.

Lilian Rockley married Edward Parker in 1902 at St James, Pentonville, and they had a son the following year (who died aged 2 years). I cannot find either Edward or Lilian on the 1911 census.

In 1914 Lilian Rockley, spinster, married Robert Hillier at St Annes, Pooles Park, Islington. All details are the same as per the first marriage certificate so it is definitely her.

Of Edward I can find no trace. If anyone has any information or indeed suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them as I am clean out of ideas of where to go next.

There are some trees online for these two, but the only additional info is that her second husband was in the army, and she had an army pension. Perhaps both husbands died!
regards.

Have you looked for Lilian under her maiden name in 1911? It looks as if Lilian and Edward separated some time before her second marriage. Maybe the distress of losing their son caused their marriage to fail.

She wasn't too truthfull about her age when she married Edward in 1902 either  ::)

1901 census has her as 16 her birth was registered March qtr 1885.

Many thanks for the replies.

The people with online trees don't know anything either, I've asked.

Lilian doesn't appear on the 1911 census under Parker, Hillier or Rockley. I have tried Packer but not Rookley. Must check that.

If she was a widow, why hide it? At her age then it wouldn't have been surprising. My bet is on bigamy and avoiding questions re first husband. I can't find a possible death for Edward before her second marriage.

I am mostly interested in finding Edward as he was my grandmother's younger brother. Hopefully he will surface one day.

Regards.

Edward Parker is such a common name.  We really need to know his place of birth.

The 1901 census says Islington but I think it more likely Clerkenwell. Can't find him on 1891.

Think his birth reg Holborn March qutr 1882.
