thank you all for such great information.  looking at the will for wllliam , he uses the fawdrey spelling as Ffawdrey, but others listed in the will use fawdry, fawdrey.  There is also a mary fawdrey listed from radbourne.  That might be a interesting person to search.  Some people have said that the Ffawdrey spelling has a french connection to it?????  Havent been able to find any french connection though.  I definitely will order the cd of salford and chipping norton.  If you find anything else interesting , i would love to hear.  goblin from the usa

You are welcome.

There is a risk I may be teaching you to suck eggs here and if that is so I am sorry. I would recommend not getting too stung out on the parentage of the name just yet. Work through the sequential information you need in order to build a solid tree then add the social and historical facts.
After all researching the origins a name is comparatively easy compared with some factually supported research about actual ancestors.
