Hamill's from Newry?
« on: Thursday 27 August 15 14:00 BST (UK) »
I'm searching for my Irish Hamill ancestors.
My grandfather always said they were from Newry.
Any info will be helpful.
Thank you.

Hi,
Earliest one which I can find some detail is the marriage of Moses Hamill to Sophia Greer in Clare Church of Ireland, Newry District on 27 Nov 1845. There are several others but do you have any names or dates?

Regards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry
Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh
Neil, Smyth _Co. Antrim

Hiya,
 Thanks for replying.
Anthony Hamill born in 1799 in Ireland.
He was a hairdresser.
He was my great great great grandfather.

Two lots of Hamill's intermarried.
One lot were from Glenarm and my late grandfather always said his lot were from Newry.
Same names in both families and both had lodging houses on the same street in my home town.
Trying to untangle which Hamill's were which.
