WW2 Brodie helmet
« on: Sunday 30 August 15 00:00 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

A few years back I brought this WW2 helmet at a car boot sale. I had information on it that I had found by unfortunately my computer crashed a few years back and I lost it, I just dug up the helmet this morning when I was going through all my bits and pieces and it would be great if somebody would give me a little info about it. Sadly it's not in the best of shape, the strap is broken and it is rather oily/greasy.

On the brim of the helmet it reads MK1 E13 AG/C 1942

I believe AG/C is the Aluminium Goods company (correct me if I'm wrong) ???

Also believe the MK1 is just the model number? Not sure what E13 is (possibly soldiers number ??? )

E13  is probably the Batch number,  OR the Size.

Or were they "one size fits all"

You say that it is not in the best of shape?

"It has been through the wars"    As they may say?

Totally agree with that! It has a story to tell, if only it could speak....

They would be issued to a wide range  of people  other than service men and women.

Air Raid precautions  ARP.  Police officers  in areas where there was bombing.

It is unlikely to be the owners serial number, I would say,     because  most serial numbers would be 6 digits long.

That's what I originally thought. As my own family served in the war, I know personally that there service numbers were a long combo of letters & numbers and I thought of it unlikely as being a service number. Least it now rules that out.
