I wonder whether you might be able to explain something to me seaweed?

The records on Findmypast for Alexander McKinnon born approx 1796 have three entries which I would like clarification of the dates for.

It says 10/36, perhaps with an S in front, below that 1/67, and below that Traveller.

Next column S, below that 1.10.38, below that 57/165 and below that Hecla.

Next column 1/397? (it's unclear), Hannibal, 4/11/39.

Would the dates be when the ship sailed?

Lloyds List, 4 October 1838 says the Hecla was off Peterhead and back from Davis Strait, Stewart on 30 Sept with 21 fish - about 200 tons.

The Fife Herald reports on 4 October 1838

"On Monday afternoon the ship Hecla, from Davis' Straits, arrived in our bay (neaning Kirkaldy), nearly full. Left the ice about the sth September."

Would you know whether there were two ships named Hecla at that time, or would this be the ship Alexander was on?

1839 sounds like a less successful year with the Hannibal initially being reported as catching one fish, but a later report in Yorkshire Gazette November 2, 1839 says two.
