Yes indeed.

When Emma's daughter Emily marries William Truman in 1890 one of her witnesses appears to be a James Eaborn.  Hence why I am wondering what is the significance of the Eabourne name mentioned at the beginning of the thread (clutching at straws...).

I also found a death for an Ellen Osborn in 1868 born 1864 so this would fit with there being no Ellen with William and Serena in any census.

To add to the confusion a cousin of mine has Eabourn as a possible surname for Ellen!!!!!!

It's a wet day here so another good time to spend online :)
Many thanks.
Jen

Why does the cousin think that?

Many years ago he started a tree just for his maternal side but also included his paternal grandparents so I'm guessing that was when he either found this name or was told it.  I have emailed him to ask.
I also have asked if anyone in the family has the marriage cert for Ellen and William's son Ernest (my husbands grandfather) in the hope that this will show something.  If not I will order one as they were married in NZ and will be easy to get.
Thanks for all the hard work so far in helping me.  I know I get a bit like a dog with a bone but I do try to have my tree as correct as I can possibly get it with notes if I am unsure about something for future generations:)

Have you ( or any rellies) got Ernest's Birth cert?  What does that give for his mothers maiden name?

Unfortunately I don't.  I have checked baptism records but they just say William and Ellen Titcombe. All their children were baptised at St Matthias in Birmingham.

UPDATE.
Today I had an email from the cousin mentioned above........he has copies of Ernest's birth, marriage and death Certs.   :). Unfortunately though they aren't much help as all three have a different spelling.  The birth cert, hand written, says mother is Ellen Osborn,  his marriage cert, typed, says Ellen Eabourne, and his death cert, also typed says mother was Ellen Osborne. What a headache.!!

He also says that he thinks he has seen somewhere other things with Eabourne!!  Also he had a birthdate for 23 May 1861 in Wales.!!!  The death date he has is 24 July 1946...,from my research I have found either 5 July 1946 or 25 July 1946 and probate 8 Oct 1946.
Still not much to go on.😄
Oops another email ....  Cousin has found a photo of a woman and written on the back is "Helen (Ellen) Titcombe, Len and Ernies mother" , another part to the puzzle meaning her name may have been Helen Osborn, Eabourn or Osborne!!!!
Everyone got headaches......I have  :)
