No need to apologise! All help received here is a bonus.

I am just surprised that Frances Cuss Ballenger simply disappears from the record books. I suppose the most likely solution is that she marries and adopts a different name, though she might have died young. Either way I can find no trace of her.

Most other relatives, leave some trace, not always very full, but at least some evidence of their adult existence.

Not sure which of your threads to put this on!
If it looks as if Lucy might have gone off to Essex, could her sister Frances have followed her?
There is this marriage in Sep qtr 1843
Billericay, vol 12 page 15
Bellenger, Frances

There seem to be three possible spouses for Frances, I found a possible pairing to one of them, William Snow

1851 in Essex
piece 1777 folio 482 page 23
Parish of Little Wakering
William Snow Head 35 Ag Labourer, born Essex Barling
Frances Snow Wife 32, born Down Humny?
next page
Emily Snow Daur 5 Essex Ingrave
Fredrick Snow Son 3 Essex Ingrave

She's been indexed as though her county of birth was Essex, but I think the enumerator has put a line there, and not a ditto

Possible death as Frances Snow, Jun qtr 1858 Rochford.

William is with new wife Maria by 1861 (with Snow children and Matthews children) - likely marriage is William Snow/Maria Matthews, Dec qtr 1859 Rochford.

Great work.

I think there are now two things to do. See if I can find the marriage in SEAX and/or get the birth certificate of Emily or Frederick. Either way, I should get the maiden name.

I have been trying to find the marriage found by jonw65 on SEAX, but the problem is that as you probably know that site isn't indexed. So in order to find a particular marriage you need to know both the parish and the approx date.

I have tried most of what I think are the obvious parishes for 1843, but have so far not been lucky. I found her sister's wedding, but not Frances' wedding. Can anyone with good knowledge of Essex suggest a likely parish. I would like to find the marriage before my day's subscription runs out, as it will give her father's name, which will confirm that this is the correct Frances Bellenger.

I have tried Ingrave with no success for the marriage, but did find the baptisms of both Emily and Frederick. As for Hutton, infuriatingly the marriage register stops at 1837.

On the two children, I have a BMD reference for Frederick in Billericay, but can't find one for Emily. The nearest would appear to be in Q2 1845 in Edmonton.

PS I should add that I have searched under Emily Bellenger just in case she was born before their marriage, though her age seems to suggest that she was not.
