Clergyman
« on: Friday 11 September 15 15:28 BST (UK) »
I have my ancestor Thomas Brown on  the 1861 census saying he was born in Dublin, he was living in Liverpool and was a mariner.

Today I received his marriage certificate, married in St Michael's C of   E church in 1857 to Mary Ann Rice and his father is Samuel Brown,  clergyman or at least that's what it looks like to me.

I've never ventured across the Irish Sea before, where's the best place to start looking online for  Irish  clergy??
Williams, Owens, Pritchard, Povall, Banks, Brown.

We use this site for Dublin BMD but Thomas may not have been from Dublin City Centre !

Do you have any idea of his mother's name ?

Also,

are you unsure of the occupation ?

Can you post the image of the word and we can try and see if Clergyman is what it says ?!

Tara

Thank you Tara but I don't have access to a scanner until Monday when I'm back at work.  :-[  I apologise for my late reply.

Try the RCB library. They may have details of his career:

He may also be listed in Crockfords Clerical Directory

Yoo would need to e-mail the RCB library. The information won't be on-line.
