Help With Info on Extract From Census Return 1851 (Pension Application)
« on: Saturday 12 September 15 21:17 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Below is a part of an Extract from the Census Return of 1851 that was issued in response to an application for an Irish State Pension in 1917.

I am wondering if any of the text in the picture could be of relevance? E.g. I see what looks like the word Bapnote and then under that something that looks like a certificate number - C40 279329. Could Bapnote be referring to a baptismal certificate?? And could the number be a certificate number?? or am I really grasping at straws :-) ?

Thank you.

Depends on what other notes are written...

The application number at the top of the page is written the same way as the C40 number.
The letter C with a number below it and more numbers slightly apart, no idea what it means but looks like part of their file system.

Hallmark is absolutely right- seeing the whole image does help to decipher the note you asked about.

A search in the census returns didn't find the applicant so a note of his baptism was submitted.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Looking at the whole thing and the different writing etc it looks like the search was done by one person... another person (Supervisor?) Certified the work, and the 2/- was refunded (?) and someone else sent a Copy  to person's address on 6th and the numbers there are an entry in the Copy Book C40. ??

Even today everything needs to be recorded stage by stage by stage (red tape!)
